A case of invasivehas been notified in a 15 year old boy from regional South Australia.
The boy is in a stable condition in hospital. The strain has been identified asB.
Meningococcal health information has been distributed to contacts in accordance with the InvasiveCommunicable Diseases Network Australia: National Guidelines for Public Health Units.
There have been six cases of invasivereported in South Australia to date this year, the same as this time last year.
Of the six cases, five have beenB and one Y.
No links have been established between this case and other recent cases.
There were a total of 36 cases of meningococcal in 2017: 22 wereB, 11 were W and three were Y.
